What Wizard is good at
- Two effects in one unit: the fireball burns and the snowball freezes, according to the in-game description.
- Range grows from 36 to 54 with upgrades, longer than Gunner's 31 to 45 in the same game version.
- You can place up to 5 Wizards.
Weaknesses and unknowns
- Starting damage is very low (6 when placed); most of its power comes from upgrades (140 fully upgraded).
- It costs $315 to place, so it is not a first-wave unit.
- Burn damage, freeze duration and the swap timing are TBD.
Where to place Wizard
- Place Wizard at a bend or a long straight where zombies stay in range, so both the burn and the freeze get time to work.
- Upgrade one Wizard before placing more copies, because damage scales from 6 to 140.
Good pairings
These are suggestions based on the developer's and in-game ability descriptions, not on measured stats.
- Sniper: A frozen zombie stays inside Sniper's very long range for more armor-piercing shots.
- Gunner: Gunner can hit flying zombies, which Wizard's description does not mention.
- Gluer: Gluer's slow and Wizard's freeze both buy time; whether they stack is not tested yet.
How to get Wizard
Summon banner (Crayons). Seen at 1.25% and 4.84% on two Standard Banner rotations and at 37.0% on a Premium Banner rotation.
Units are summoned with Crayons on the summon banner in the mall lobby. Multi-summons of up to 50 are available, and players report that multi-summons do not raise your odds. Every summon can also roll a Shiny version: 1% normally, or 3% with the Shiny Hunter game pass (499 Robux), from player level 10. The VIP pass (399 Robux) gives 10% off summons. Free Crayons come from codes while they are active, and the beginner's guide lists other early sources.
Levelling, traits and evolution
Like every unit, Wizard levels up with XP from matches, Pencils and Stasis Pods (which train a unit over time while you are away). Players report that Stamps raise the level cap. Traits are painted on with Paint Pots and can be buffs such as damage, range, boss damage or cash, or debuffs. Stat Chips and Super Chips reroll a unit's stats, and Gear from your Pencil Case can be equipped. Open the unit in game to see the materials its evolution needs.
Wizard evolution: Casts fire and ice in the same attack. Requirements shown in game: level 20, a 4-star item, 2,500 Pencils, 60 Blue Dust, 25 Purple Dust, Bones and more (8 in total).
